Hello, I’m a Logistics Technician

David came to Bioversity with experience in events management and real estate sales. He chose to apply to Bioversity’s Biotech Career Foundations eight-week training program in order to pursue a new professional career path that would align with his goal of obtaining a Bachelor’s in Science in Informational Technology. David graduated from Bioversity in June of 2024 and started in his role at Abcam a few weeks later in July. Here are David’s reflections of his time at Abcam and how he’s thinking about a career path from here.
“After graduating from Bioversity, I embarked on my professional journey as a Logistics Technician at Abcam. From day one, I have been committed to adding value to my role, taking on responsibilities beyond my core duties to drive efficiency and collaboration within my team. By leading team meetings, training new hires, and assisting colleagues, I have developed essential leadership and problem-solving skills that contribute to our collective success.
Recognizing the importance of career development and cross-functional knowledge, I seized the opportunity to join a mentorship program at Abcam. This experience has provided me with valuable insights into different departments, allowing me to explore diverse career paths within the life sciences industry. Through mentorship, I have gained exposure to operations, IT integration, and business management, enhancing my understanding of how logistics supports broader organizational goals.
As I continue to grow in my career, I am also pursuing my Bachelor of Science in IT and Business Management, which I will complete in Fall 2025. My goal is to leverage both my academic background and hands-on experience to transition into a hybrid role that bridges technology, business strategy, and operations. By integrating IT solutions into logistics and supply chain management, I aim to drive innovation and efficiency within the life sciences sector.
I am excited about the future and look forward to making meaningful contributions to the industry. With a strong foundation in logistics, leadership, and technology, I am eager to explore opportunities that will allow me to combine my skills and passion for growth in the ever-evolving world of life sciences.”
