‘Training people where the jobs are’: Officials highlight Bioversity life sciences job training program at UMass Lowell

LOWELL — “Five weeks into the program Monday morning, local officials celebrated the work of the inaugural Bioversity workforce training cohort of students receiving career training in the life sciences field at UMass Lowell.

The program was born out of a partnership between UML and Bioversity, a biotech workforce training nonprofit which spun off the Massachusetts Biotechnology Council in 2023. Bioversity is itself a partner in the Lowell Innovation Network Corridor mixed-use development project. At a roundtable discussion Monday morning, UML Chancellor Julie Chen stressed the importance of bolstering the life sciences sector locally, including in entry-level jobs.”
